Giveaway Winners and a guilty pleasure of mine......

Thank you to all who commented on the post for the Bewitching Home goes Pink. I always appreciate your thoughts.

The winner of the mask is Maddyrose of Santa and the Mrs. The Winner of the pink witch hat is Wendy S of The Year with Cats. Congratulations to both of you. I'll have these in the mail to you on Monday.

And now on to my guilty pleasure. I have for most all of my life been fascinated by all thinks "dotty". Red and White polka dots just do me in. Love, love, love them. And so, that love has brought me to an insane love of gnomes, mushrooms and all manner of wonders in the required white on red dotty world. I have a folder on my pinterest "What is red white and gnome all over" and fill it with my heart's desire often.

I found that there is another person that I know who shares my passion for polka dots of the red and white variety and I came to know this when I saw some of her photos in her blog, The Vintage Fairytales. Yes Becky is a dotty nut in addition to being a fabulous photographer and lovely person.
She sent me this too fabulous for words antique glass red and white topped mushroom because.....just because. I adore it and Becky.

I have installed it into a bell jar to keep it safe......I'm not sure that's where it will stay, but after all the Halloweenie comes down, I'm looking forward to placing it in its permanent home in the dining room. Or as my grandchildren like to say.....the display room.

Trolls, Hobgoblins and Goblins arrived

Having tried to "ready up" for the Halloween season, I listed these items in my Etsy shop.

The Not Quite Right Halloween Hearts will probably be the last of these little gems that I do. The lovely sound of the embroidery floss going through the paper will be limited because of the growth on my wrists. Holding a needle is getting to be no fun at all. So onward and upward.

These are the shoes that I entered into the Altered Witch Shoe blog party sponsored by Anna at Frosted Petunias. So much fun taking nun shoes and making them into Witchy wear. If you didn't see the other entries for this party follow the link to the fun.

Next week I will have an item featured from a shop in Sweden and then hopefully the week after, I will have the shop itself listed here. You're gonna love it, I promise.

Thanks for stopping by, Oma Linda

This artist is a little hard to understand but worth the effort....

I am trying to be true to my word and bring you art work that is fresh, fun and worth the look see. I have no pictures to show you but you will see why when you make your visit to meet. The Libe ob Don Estorbo de la Bodega Dominicana.

I have been reading Estorbo's blog now for almost 2 years. I have never not had a reaction to what is being offered by the very talented writer and the model of this blog. I hope that you will be enchanted by the way that the endeavors are offered. Most times I laugh until I hurt, but I have also wept copiously. I am as you know a total animal lover and this beeg blag cad is simply loveable to the max.

I'd like to introduce you to Don Estorbo. I'd like to suggest that going back to view past posts will give you some idea just how talented this writer/photog is and why the New York Times has come to their apartment to interview, The Woooman, The Smoothman and Estorbo.

Let me know what you theeenk, think.

It's been awhile............

I feel like I have neglected this blog for far too long. My intention was to keep an artist of the week on here and did okay for awhile and then............pffffffft. We partied here, thanks Ms. April and the Angry Gnome and then.............nada pinata.

I have some slowed down, as in better timing,  plans for spotlighting talented people here. Some Etsy buddies, some witchy friends from across the pond and a shop in Sweden that you will not be able to resist.

So I hope those of you who are still out there in bloggyland will come back to this blog to see what we're cooking up here.

Ta for now, OmaLinda

The Angry Gnome Celebrates Oz

The Angry Gnome Welcomes One and ALL to Oma Linda’s Wizard of Oz party!!! In honor of this Special, Annual Event, the Angry Gnome and his friends decided to make an Ozzie Wand for a Give Away!!

They began with some Oz Scrapbook paper they’ve been hoarding for just this Occasion! They also had a glass bowl shape and a wood piece and a dowel.  Everything was at their disposal so they began their work!

The first thing done was the painting of the wood base:
Once this was painted, two more Gnomes drilled the hole for the Wand handle.  Hmmmmmm....there was a bit of a delay, due to a bottle of wine...but work was eventually resumed and the hole successfully drilled!

Some Extras were being chosen...Stars were very important!!!

And the Angry Gnome, himself, worked on the famous OZ Symbol!!!!

Next came the OZ figures on the green base and Glitter!!!  One of the Gnomes spilled quite a bit of glitter but managed to also get some around the Witch figure, where it was needed!

After working ALL DAY, the Angry Gnome and friends had created a wonderful, BIG, Magical Witch of the West OZ WAND!!!! And here it is!!!!

Now, would you like to know HOW this Oz Wand could be yours?????!!!  I’m not going to TELL!!! HAHHAHAHHA, JUST KIDDING!!! Had you going for a second!!! Okay..in order to win this Fabulous OZZIE WAND, sweated over by MANY hard-working Gnomes, you must successfully answer the following OZ questions:
1)  What is the Tin Woodman’s REAL NAME?
2) What is the name of THIS MULE in the book, “Tik-Tok of Oz”, by L. Frank Baum (This question is in honor of Oma Linda!)

3)  Which TWO Characters are the only TWO allowed to practice MAGIC in the land of Oz??
4)  Which character is The Angry Gnome’s Favorite (Hint- it is NOT a Witch!!)
Answer these 4 Questions correctly and your name will be put in a Drawing.  The Drawing will take place July 20th, the DAY AFTER the OZ PARTY!!!
And there will also be a Second Drawing for a Wonderful OZ Shopping Bag, as well, on July 20th.
Here is the Bag that will be Given away. To Enter, you must leave a Comment on The Angry Gnome on July 19th (Oz Party Day)-

and mention something you have seen on Oma Linda’s Blog: http://lindaomasoldebaggsnstuftshirts.blogspot.com/

Oberon's Wood

This old elf is such a darling soul. Not just because she is a friend but because she has such a giving personality. She hides sometimes in the wood and plays hide and seek with us mortals and always makes me giggle.

Her painting of fairies are extraordinary and are only surpasses by her talent at miniature sculpture. And her computer creations using old photos never ceases to make me happy. She has a wicked sense of humor.

I have shared with you in the past the wonders of her hands on my other blogs but I am going to share with you where you can find her hiding. Her facebook page is called "forgotten corner of Oberon's Wood" "https://www.facebook.com/ArtofOberonsWood  and also Oberon's Wood as is her shop on Etsy, oberonswood. At this point in time, like all of us who do "arting" encouragement would be a wonderful thing. Most especially because she has such mega talent, not only as an artist but a kind, caring human as well. Ms. Cee is contemplating removing her facebook selling page because of little activity......thus my sending you there to encourage the darling girl.

This multi talented lady moderates a lovely page for Pagan Artists Network and also Society of Spellweavers on facebook  and is such an encourager of others. Friends to so many and special old elf to all of us. XXXX Ms. Cee.

She also can be found on blogger at: http://oberonswood.blogspot.com/2012/06/my-bleeding-heart.html

So my lovelies....off with you now. Go see my friend the elf of Oberon's Wood.

The Olde Dame Penniwig..........

I know you are probably asking why is the Olde Bagg recommending The Olde Dame? Because she rocks and I know you are going to love her work......if you haven't already.
The amount of freebies that the kind and wonderful Penniwig has to offer you on her blog, her old blog site and also on her Picasa and Photobucket accounts as well as with every listing she has on her Etsy account is unbelieveable. What she creates for her Etsy shop is wonderful.
this can currently be found in her Etsy shop
She is just a sharing soul, with a great talent for creating the interesting, the unusual and prim do hickeys and thing-a-bobs for any and all holidays, occasions, and sometimes just because. She also has tutorials on the creation of paper embellishments as well, lovely paper roses etc.
I purchased these for our Halloween "do" and it was so festive and different
Ms. Penni, was the first person to call me a donkey fren, has a wicked sense of humor, foretells future events and lives life her own way.

Gawd, I love her.

I also love the way she describes herself:
"I'm not a Southern Beauty,
I'm not an Eastern rose;
I'm just a lil' Western Gal
With freckles on her nose."

Take some time to go to visit all the wonderful hidey hole places that Ms. Penni has made for herself and for you. I'm sure you will find lots to admire, repurpose and most especially purchase for yourself.

You may not have met my bedbug yet.....

A year ago, I received a lovely albeit strange gift from someone I barely knew. I had been following a blog called Martha and Jane for some time and commented often on the antics of these characters. A story about stuffed animals made by Valerie Weberpal and others. It featured two dolls and their play partners. The maker VW also made bedbug dolls and April and Helen, the real bloggers behind the story then began sending out bedbugs to unsuspecting but appreciative folks. We became BB Mom's. There have ended up being several generations of Bedbug.

Here's Bopp with his first Bunny girlfriend.....he has had many since
My bedbugs is named Bopp. He is third generation in the makers line. I have posted about some of his adventures on both of my other blogs.....mostly on Ye Olde Crones Gazette. He and Ms. Baggs my wooden correspondent for the Gazette are friends. He has for several months now just been sidelined by lack of enthusiasm for either featuring him or being involved with the BB Mom's.

Well as with all good things.....the joy has gone out of mudsville and the group of folks who would chat, support and allow each others lunacy has gone silent for part of the group. And the reason? because of ego. Ain't it always the way????? One person gets to thinking that they have an idea that everyone else needs to (must) ascribe to. And when the others in the group aren't automatons, or worse, don't feel like it is a priority in their lives to drop everything else and do this persons bidding, they (because they are an Artiste) go ahead and do the non-participants parts without their permisssion. And then when some in the group leave because they have been bullied and not been told the complete truth, the remainders who have been true friends with each other for so long.......feel betrayed. So they resort to paranoid ugliness about the ones who left.

Me, I just hid under a rock for a few days, looked out to see the unfriendlies gathering and left the group too.

Bopp is so sad, he's taken to his bed.....I think it is Bedbug depression
Bopp and I are both sad to say good-bye to "a used to be fun" artistic sharing group. So sad.

Which just goes to show you....be careful how you treat everyone, all the time because you can't take back what hurts someone else. Even an "I'm sorry, sometimes just doesn't undo the pain caused".

Nice Matters or as the famous running back Earl Campbell's grandma used to say, "it takes a lot more effort to be ugly to folks and a lot less to be kind."

Not trying to be preachy, just saying taking others feelings into consideration is always the best way to be a life artist, not just someone who makes art. Have a super week.

This is kinda unusual but...........

A friend from facebook shared a link to a blog. The group we are in together loves toys, childrens books and county living......as well as other shared endeavors. Be that as it may, I followed the link because Tante Helen had recommended it and I am usually blessed by doing so.

Well this is more of a gigantic blessing type link. I do not know the author but I don't have to know her personally to appreciate what she does, what she loves and where she lives. I know that you will enjoy a visit to this wonderful world of Jeri Landers at Hopalong Hollow Gazette.
http://hopalonghollowgazette.blogspot.com/2012/04/pickets-paints-and-gardens.html

So rather than featuring an artist....I'd like you to go to the artist's blog and check out her world and her art.......have fun

And here's some more info on Cathy DeLeRee

The more I find out about this lovely lady the more I am impressed with not only her talents but....her heart as well.

I asked if there were any other photos of her work that she wanted to share with you and this is what she sent me. I will let you read her words, it is so beautiful.

The painting I attached was a commission. This was for a woman that lost he horse Ricky. Its a memorial piece, made with the hair she saved for years. I had enough to somehow get his mane and tail done. It was a wonderful experience to get to know the spirit of Ricky as I created this work of love..:o)

What a beautiful way of memorializing a fur friend.

Hope you have enjoyed this edition of featured artist. And happy April tomorrow.

Cathy DeLeRee is this week's featured artist

Cathy of Siestalane@Etsy.com and her facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Art-Of-Cathy-DeLeRee/179136198773670 is this weeks features artist.

I had looked at, admired and favorited some of Cathy's work on Etsy but did not know her until this last week. You see, she is the artist who painted the wall plaque that made my week. I received a surprise in the mail this week from Arizona......Stacy of MagicLoveCrow had gotten me this plaque from Cathy. Yep, you guess it a beautiful donkey who now has the name StacyC. I thanked Cathy for her part in my happy surprise and come to find out we have other friends in common......donkey friends even. Ms. Ady of pomegranite80.

I have some of Cathy's work shown here and encourage you to check out the lovely whimsical and touching art she creates. She says of herself that she is self taught, loves Mexican art, color and the desert of Arizona sparked something creative in her. You're gonna love what she does, what she sees and if you do get a chance to visit with her, you will love the light shining from her goodness.

Cathy DeLeRee, thanks for being this week's featured artist.

Rebecka Ryborg Skott, my long lost love child in Sweden

I know what?????
I made this block tower for Becky and she sent me this photo work of art
I used to sell on Ebay. The fates brought the most wonderful human into my life when I was selling these strange little soft plastic little boy dolls heads. The woman who bought them instantly sparked my interest. I visited her Vintage Fairy Tales and I was a gonner. I love her sense of humor, her eye for just the right composition of her photos and of course her whimsy wrapped up in beauty.
Beckybus and I have known each other for several years and are the kind of friends that know we are out there for each other, even when we don't speak for extended periods of time. She is so dear. Such a kind heart. So loving. I felt so close to her that I kidded her and said she must be my love child I left in Sweden.
In a couple of years, if all goes well, she will be coming to New Mexico. She has a group of friends and fellow artists who go to a Julie Arkell led workshop in Briancon France.....one of those ladies lives in Santa Fe and is trying to set up a gathering of the Briancon ladies here at Los Poblanos, a very lovely rural setting. So I might have a chance to meet, hug and feed my Beckybus in person. That is a very happy thought indeed.
My grands produced and made this video for Becky after she dedicated this wonderful Penguin photo to us. I am the penquin and they are under my wings....it is a gift of a life time for us.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avUQUK0ZObo&list=FLQRV8gjhWVpJeMoj8T_DmDg&feature=mh_lolz

Please go and see all the wonder and magic that you too will find in Becky's art in The Vintage Fairytales.
